| Koskenkorva is both a place and the most famous Finnish hard liquor Koskenkorva vodka, manufactured at the Altia distillery next door to the Koskenkorva Trahteeri estate. The estate draws its stories and ideas from the Ostrobothnian tradition, never forgetting humour!
After a welcoming toast and a bit of shooting the breeze, we’ll enjoy some traditional barley porridge. We’ll then leave our clothes in the washing cabin and put on a pair of famous Finnish Reino and Aino slippers, sauna jerseys and robes, and take a walk across the yard to an authentic stove sauna. We’ll take a dip in the cold water well and chill out in the hot pot – that is, the whirlpool tub. The sauna is mixed, but don’t worry, we’ll be wearing old-fashioned striped sauna jerseys.
Once we're clean as a whistle, we’ll enjoy a taste of liqueur-marinated fish, functional salads, hodge-podge dishes and brawn, “blue” casseroles and steamed vegetables, potatoes, sauce and whole meat on a plank (in thin slivers or huge slabs). Coffee and baked goods round off the relaxing evening. You’ll also have the possibility to familiarise yourself with the Finnish alcohol policy and the history of the neighbouring Altia distillery at the Koskenkorva Museum.
