South Ostrobothnia is known for its traditional home and handcrafts industries, which have developed into a viable small business industry. Kauhava is still famous for its knifesmiths, Kurikka and Jurva for the carpenters and the furniture industry, and Töysä for its leather products. A characteristic feature of South Ostrobothnia is the large number of small businesses and regional hubs formed by them, e.g. in the wood, metal and textile industries. South Ostrobothnia also has the world's largest concentration of industrial log house construction.
